Your support will help our programs grow!

Your support will help The Toy Museum of NY and our new Toy Inventors Club, which was founded with the goal of building a global community where kids of all ages can learn and build skills in invention, creativity, design and entrepreneurship. Our program provides children the opportunity to learn within the easily comprehensible world of toys and grow through the power of play.

Educational programs, schools, and individual members will be able to access in person or virtual invention workshops, toy inventor lead programming, interactive virtual content, videos, school challenges, downloadable projects, awards for participation, an official membership card, plus exclusive merchandise.

Backed by over 23 years of experience, this program has been created by Marlene Hochman, Inventor of the The Toy Museum of NY and her staff of experts in education and entertainment. The program aims to develop, implement, and distribute content globally to bring invention-based learning to students everywhere.

The Impact

Since creativity is at the root of problem solving and innovation drives economic growth, the skills built while inventing are essential to building a better world. Just like scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and performers, inventors are critical thinkers and problem solvers. There is a growing need to ensure that young people of all backgrounds are provided with opportunities to create their own solutions by thinking critically and flexing their creative muscles, and many traditional educational settings can benefit from the integration of innovation and entrepreneurship into their curriculum.

Our program extends the goals of a typical STEAM-based education by asking the student to identify a problem that they feel passionately about solving, justify what they’ve created, build skills in science and the arts, and build their unique voice. Through our invention programming, students will productively struggle and explore trial and error, which is authentic, hands-on and meaningful learning. All content is cross curricular and correlated to National standards.

We can look at history and easily see the impact inventing can have on kids and how it influences their ability to solve problems that many of us face. People like Louis Braille, Frederick Jones and Phil Farnsworth each utilized methods of inventing from an early age and went on to invent the Braille reading system, mobile refrigeration technology, and the method used for early broadcast television. By engaging the next generation of inventors with the world around them, we provide our students with the tools they need to overcome barriers, believe in new possibilities, and turn ideas into action. Before we know it, they will be important decision makers!

At the Toy Museum of NY, we are looking to provide educators with activities, videos and worksheets developed inside our inventors clubhouse laboratory for the purpose of ensuring that children are provided with ample opportunity to invent from an early age. Through the Toy Museum's Inventors Club content and lesson plans, teachers can instruct their students on the process of invention, and provide them with time in the classroom to practice this procedure.

The Funding Goals

Funding will support:

1. the development of our content and the technological elements of our program including our digital platform where we provide all templates, challenges, national standards alignments, and cross curricular lesson plans with our global community.

2. our ongoing effort in making our programming accessible to underserved classrooms and communities.

With your help we can implement invention-based lesson plans in classrooms across the globe and launch our full programming roster in 2023! Happy inventing :)
